Our Programs
Make a difference in the life of a child with a need
Skilled Nursing
Skilled nursing care refers to a high level of medical care that must be provided by licensed health professionals, such as licensed practical nurses (LPN), registered nurses (RNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA).
Our skilled nursing responsibility will be to provide the children with the medical care and developmental training they need to handle basic daily functions and to lead happy, healthy lives. The role of our nurses is not fixed, as our nurses are ready to carry out different kinds of responsibilities based on the type and extent of the special need.
Amazing Kids PPEC nurses are committed to interacting with each child’s family in order to teach them the skills necessary to take care of and interact with their loved ones. Our nurses seek to form strong bonds with each child and their families to become a large part of their life. Excellent communication skills are very important in our center as nurses will be able to communicate with each child, with the child’s family, with doctors in different specializations as well as with other caregivers. Our highly skilled staff members are certified to provide medical care for children facing complex medical challenges and they are guided by a Medical Director and a Director of Nursing.
Amazing Kids PPEC provides a wide range of services such as specialized therapies, intravenous (IV) therapy, injections, monitoring of vital signs and so much more. These services can be necessary over the long term for children who need a high level of care on a frequent or constant basis due to a chronic medical condition.

Physical Therapy
Pediatric Physical Therapy optimizes quality of life through prescribed exercise, hands-on care, and patient education. Physical Therapists teach patients how to prevent or manage their condition so that they will achieve long-term health benefits. By using their expertise in movement, Physical Therapists can apply clinical reasoning through the process of evaluation, examination, diagnosis, and intervention.
Our Pediatric Physical Therapists examine each child and work in collaboration with a child’s Pediatrician and their family to provide services aimed at promoting a child’s ability to function independently and participate actively in home, school, and community environments.
The role of our physical therapy is to help children who have difficulty with functional movement, poor balance, and challenges moving through their environment successfully. Special need children commonly have low muscle tone, some have poor balance, others may not be well-coordinated, and still others may have a combination of all of the above. These are all areas that our physical therapist can address. After an assessment, the physical therapist will design and implement a program that will help to improve the individual child’s areas of need and increase overall function and participation
The goal is to promote independence, increase participation, facilitate motor development and function, improve strength and endurance, enhances learning opportunities, and eases challenges with daily caregiving.

Behavioral Therapy
Behavioral Therapy involves minimizing anxiety, learning alternative ideas and learning that feelings and moods alter behavior. The connections between our thoughts and our actions are powerful.
Behavioral therapies for children and adolescents primarily focus on how some problematic thoughts or negative behaviors may unknowingly or unintentionally get reinforced within a young person’s environment. These undesirable thoughts and behaviors often increase due to the contribution of the reinforcement. Through Behavioral therapy, children and adolescents are encouraged to try new behaviors, reward desired behaviors, and to allow unwanted behaviors to be ignored.
Like most therapy programs at Amazing Kids PPEC, we look to extend the knowledge to the child’s home. That is why a key focus is to develop and teach parents how to reinforce desirable behaviors in their children, discourage unwanted behaviors, and improve parent-child interactions. In this form of therapy, the parents play a significant role in treating their children’s behavior problems. During the therapy sessions, parents learn how to carefully observe their children’s behaviors at home and are taught skills to reward their children’s positive behaviors by using praise, positive attention, and rewards. They are also taught to use rule-setting, time-out, and ignoring to discourage bad behaviors.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy helps individuals across their lifespan to perform the everyday tasks and the adaptation to the social environment, through specialized therapies for getting dressed, memory training and coordination exercises. Occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live their life to the fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.
Amazing Kids PPEC occupational therapists evaluate the child and their environment to gather information needed to make a decision about intervention planning. Evaluation of the child’s occupation consists of the child’s performance skills such as gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and process skills; Performance patterns (habit, routine) and performance context (cultural, physical, social).
Occupational therapy begins with the child but we encourage our parents to build a partnership with our Occupational Therapist. Parents should communicate with their therapist as it is important for the parent or aide to be involved in setting up and encouraging the child’s therapy goals. Parent observation and participation is encouraged as it builds an understanding of the child’s experience in therapy and fantastic way to connect with your child and assist them in handling everyday tasks in a more efficient way.
Our Occupational Therapists address a child’s ability to perform daily activities such as eating, bathing, dressing, playing and so on. As advocates for the children we work with our goal is to promote the progress and change in a positive direction for the child to make the daily functional tasks of his/her life easier.
